Hippo Hill camp is well known to be a lavish camp located within the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park. It was opened in 2006 and it’s more positioned in the shield zone of the park-Katwa town. The camp was constructed on the hill providing a magnificent view of Kitako as well as Kabazimu Islands. This park is enclosed by Lake Edward, Katwe salt Lake along with Munyanyange Crater Lake. It’s surrounded with large concentrations of Hippos, buffaloes, Flamingos and other wildlife.

The park has a variety of Flora and Fauna and it’s acknowledged to be a habitat for over 95 mammal species with about 612 species of birds. The various species in this park, has made it a unique park most liked by tourists. Geographers will say that the park has around 57 vegetation but in actual sense, it has five levels of vegetation. Namely bushy grassland, Acacia woodland, Lakeshore or swamp vegetation along with forest grassland.

The grasslands of the park settles wildlife such as Cape buffalo, Uganda kob, waterbuck, warthlog, lion, leopard, hyena, giant forest hog as well as elephants.Topis can only be discovered in Ishasha and forest primate found in Kyambura gorge in addition to Maramagambo forest.

Africa has some protected areas. Therefore the park’s remarkable birdlist that to exceed that of the neighboring Virunga National Park. Mweya Peninsula

Kazinga Channel.

The Kazinga channel is about 40m long adjoining Lake Gorge to Lake Edward. It has the perfect view of the parks’ major wildlife ventures. The shores of the lake attracts a large concentration of mammals, birds as well as reptiles all year around. The animals can be viewed well by the Nile cruise or probably at the entrance of Lake Edward. The operation of the cruise run from 15.00 and 17.00, furthermore voyages run 11.00 and 13.00 depending on the demand of the tourists.

Kazinga channel has parts for instance North Kazinga as well as Kasenyi.Its acknowledged that the plains of channel are focal points for game viewing. In 1954 Queen Elizabeth gave a provision shelter for this site until in 1959 when a permanent pavilion was constructed for the visit of Queen Elizabeth. Renovations were made by second visit of Duke of Edinburgh in 2007 with better facilities such as coffee shop and internet facilities.

Ishasha covers an area of about 100km south of Mweya.The Park’s distant southern segment gives a genuine Africa wilderness experience. Queen Elizabeth Tour Uganda

3 Days Queen Elizabeth Safari Tour Uganda

Queen Elizabeth National Park covers an area of about 1978 km2; its position provides a magnificent view of the rift valley floor that occupies Lake Edward and Gorge. Its well know to be habitat of about 95 mammal along with 612 species of birds.Formerly,a historian known as Douglas Willocks talked about the various features that led to the formation of the park in 1952.

The area was strategically located with a stunning view of Mount Rwenzori, the plains and the composite jagged mass of mountains that are good for activities such as hiking.
On the other side of Lake Edward, there is a famous hill known as Mitumbe that look out to Congo. Its beauty is signified with changing colors from blue to green, with gentle slopes, distant and this makes it become the center of darkness in Africa. The eastern part of the park is characterized with peaceful green escarpment that is acquired from the western rift valley. The features are all covered with savannah making it a beautiful place full of nature euphorbia trees.

The park is so extensive further more adjacent to the other protected areas. For instance Kigezi covering an area about 256km2 and Kyambura with about 154km2 wildlife set a side. The other areas include Kalinzu Forest reserve that adjoins to DRC with about 200km2 along Virunga National Park.Rwenzori National Park is about a few Kilometers to the North.

Queen Elizabeth National Park has one of the highest bio diversity ratings of any national park in the world, over 500 different bird species and about 100 mammal species.

The grassland plains supports a variety of animals which can be viewed from a vehicle on the network of tracks designated in the park. About 20 predators are found in the park such as lions, leopards, side stripped jackal and spotted hyena among others.

Common Antelopes species include the kob, bush buck, topi and water buck. Other animals which can even be found at mweya peninsular are;Buffaloes, elephants, warthogs and hippos. There are also various primate species are available in the park including chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkey, black and white colobus monkey, olive baboons among others. The Ishasha sector is famously known for its tree climbing lions and it is also known to host the world’s highest concentration of hippos.
ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer:
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is one of the outstanding treasures of Uganda and named after Queen Elizabeth II visit in 1954.En route we shall stop at the equator which divides the earth into the Northern and southern hemisphere. We shall have lunch in Mbarara and thereafter proceed with our journey to the park.

Dinner and overnight in:

DAY 2: Game drive and Boat cruise:
After breakfast at 6.30am depart for the early Morning Game drive. The park has a net work of many game tracks which end at the Kasenyi fishing village.

Expect to see animals such as Elephants, Waterbucks, Warthogs, the Uganda Kob, herds of Buffaloes. Watch out Baboons and monkeys!

After lunch, go for the exciting 2hour Launch cruise along the Kazinga channel. Expect to see bird species such as the rare shoe bill, Egyptian geese, the yellow billed stork, white pelicans; Hippos and Crocodiles swimming while others bask in the sun. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Return to Kampala.
Immediate transfer to Kampala or(oportional)go for chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura gorge or go for nature walk in Maramagambo forest where bat caves On your way, make a stopover at Mpambire drum village, a chance to buy a locally made drum.
